BIG Jewelry

Nothing creates drama like a BIG focus.
In this post I will be showing different necklaces paired with the same shirt to emphasize, how one necklace can make a BIG difference.

*I apologize for how wordy this post is in advance*

The first necklace is pastel purple and a pastel turquoise color. This is one of the least dramatic looking of the 3 that i will be showing. I like this piece because it has a nice color palette which can be paired with lighter colors. So if you are afraid of color try lighter hues of one color or colors that are next to each other. I would pair this necklace and outfit combo with a pair of pearls or another lighter looking piece to carry the effect of the necklace through the outfit. (The "shirt" is really a shirt dress from Rue21 bought on sale ages ago for about 7-8 dollars)

The second necklace is a large and in charge gold necklace that I got at Topshop for 3 dollars. They were having a sale the day I went and was super happy to find a few items. Trust me when I say I look for all the deals no matter where! This necklace was originally bought for an event I went to and loaned to a friend. Non the less the necklace makes the outfit look edgy and chic. I would pair this necklace with the gold owl clip-ons that I picked up in a bag of jewelry for 2 dollars. You can mix metallic jewelry as well, never be afraid to mix metals!

Finally the last necklace is bold and has a lot of visual weight. The weight of this necklace on the outfit jazzes things up. The different shades of pink are bright and creates visual interest. This necklace would be for the fashion forward who aren't  afraid of color. I would pair this necklace with a simple pair of studs that have the same colors. Never be afraid of color.

The common theme running through these pictures is very simple. If you haven't figured it out I'll give you a hint. Basic shirt, big contrast. These necklaces (the first and third ones) have become super popular. I recently got mine as holiday gifts. Many craft stores have a jewelry section which have great goodies that can be used to mimic these looks if you want to make it personal to your style. It only takes a little creativity to make something this simple. And if crafting isn't your thing no big, buying a few pieces that you can reuse with other outfits isn't bad either! Been there, done that!
The key is to really keep the background or the outfit simple. To much going on can look overdone and busy which takes away from the pieces individually. If it looks cluttered then try taking off a piece or pieces if needed.
